Maybe we’re not holding on so tightly anymore. Slowly, and bit by bit we unfold our fingers and release our grasp. Memories flow through our minds ; we drift back to the time when we just met, a recollection of everything we’ve been through, and we smile subconsciously. A snap of fingers brings us back to the present. Why are we here? Where did we go wrong? Is this the end? Tears form in our eyes, we feel the excruciating pain in our chest.
Someone calls out your name, you wipe the tears off your face, try your best to plaster a smile on your face and get on with life.
We go through this again and again. But each time it hurts, we get a little stronger. Until one day, it doesn’t matter anymore. Until one day, we don’t matter anymore.
And the hardest part about letting go, is when you realise the other person already did.
So what? Because I'm not in the position to care anymore.
